Yuri
Nitta was born in Tokyo. Her music career has started with
piano. After she had graduated from Kunitachi College of
Music she was admitted to the Class of diploma of Tohogakuen
College of Music. At the age of 18 she has started to
study conducting under Kazuhiko Komatsu and later under
Tadaaki Otaka, Seiji Ozawa, Kazuyoshi Akiyama.
And she studied chamber music under Akira Miyoshi.
In 1990 she has been a finalist of Besancon International
Young Conductor Competition and in 1991 she had
took the second prize in Tokyo International Music Competition
(sponsored by Min-On). Since then she has been invited as
a guest conductor to Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, TokyoMetropolitan
Orchestra, and Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, Sendai
Philharmony Orchestra, Nagoya Philharmony Orchestra,
Kyoto Symphony Orchestra, Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra
and many others. And she has been working with the wind
orchestras like Tokyo Wind Orchestra and released
6 CDs conducting Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra with
King Record in 1994.
She has also career in conducting Operas. After taking
the part of assistantconductor under Kazushi Ohno and
other conductors in Opera Concertante of Tokyo Philharmony
Orchestra, Yokohama City Opera and Theater Mozart,
she conducted "Die Entführung aus dem Serail","Le
nozze di Figaro", "Don Giovanni", "Cosi
fan tutte", "Die Zauberflöte", "La
serva padrona", "Il segreto di Susanna", "Yuzuru"
in Yokohama City Opera and Ota Kumin Opera Association.
From Oct. 2000 through Oct. 2001 she was sent by Japanese
Cultural Affairs with the scholarship to Lahti Symphony
Orchestra and had the training. She conducted their rehearsals
and concerts besides being an assistant of Osmo Vänskä
at the opera of“Ennen kuin me kaikki olemme hukkuneet ” -
Finnish National Opera and “Aika ja Uni”in Savonlinna
Opera Festival . She also conducted the student`s orchestra
and wind orchestra of Lahti Concervatoir.In February 2001
she was invited as a special lecturer for the conductor `s
lecture of Finnish Army Band. In August 2001
she has established “Ensemble Iris” with the members
of Lahti Symphony Orchestra with the repertories of Finnish
and Japanese pieces based at Listin Church in Lahti city
and its interesting activities were picked up on the newspapers.
And at the same time she takes piano part of the chamber music
ensemble with the members of Lahti Symphony Orchestra. Now
a day she is putting her power into performing the Finnish
pieces as well as five Northern Europe countries in Japan
and her lyricism is highly evaluated.
And now she is a lecturer at Kunitachi College of Music
and Soai University with the orchestra class and wind
orchestra class.
